We have all been working with state and municipal governments to enact pet-inclusive housing policies: prohibiting breed/weight/size restrictions, capping excessive pet rents and deposits, and mandating transparency from landlords. We have had success and want to expand our efforts. We need everyone to join in to make this possible. We're stronger together.

Protect the bonds

between people and their pets, support the acquisition of new pets by increasing the availability of pet-friendly housing, and stem the flow of pets being relinquished to animal shelters and rescues due to lack of access to pet-inclusive housing.

Forge a united coalition of diverse stakeholders committed to passing a comprehensive and cohesive agenda to improve equitable access to pet-inclusive housing.

Taking Action
Together.

i.

Create a comprehensive legislative menu, including a diverse set of policy solutions that can be implemented separately or, when combined, would lead states and localities to be fully pet-inclusive in their public policy – regulate pet rent, no breed or size restrictions, pets allowed in all subsidized housing, etc. 

ii.

Grow membership across all stakeholder groups and secure support of legislative agenda.

iii.

Leverage membership strengths and resources to develop and pursue federal, state, and local priorities. 

iv.

Identify and spotlight legislative champions for pets and housing at local, state, and federal levels. 

v.

Maintain an up-to-date legislative map showing what has been introduced and passed/failed in each state and at the federal level. 

vi.

Develop regular monthly communications with legislative updates, new research, and advocacy tools to support and coordinate coalition members.
